Is That Your Boyfriend/Husband's Bike?
Is That Your Boyfriend/Husband’s Bike?
The never-ending question
OK ladies, so how many time have you heard this question? “Nice bike you got there… is that your boyfriend’s?” Or maybe even “You sure you know how to ride that thing” followed by a slight grin or a chuckle.
REPEAT AFTER ME LADIES:
“ No, is that your girlfriend’s shirt?!"
There are so many ways to respond to that question, most of us might just shrug and laugh it off, but we say, “No!”…ladies. A quick harmless jab right back at them is not a bad thing. “No, is that your girlfriend’s shirt?!" lol Alright, alright maybe don’t go that hard, but let them know we are very capable of handling ourselves.
We know that women who ride motorcycles are sometimes called unicorns, but guess what guys we do exist. And not to toot our on horn, but some females can ride circles around some guys (ever heard of Maria Herrera)….. don’t ask me tho…. I‘m still trying to drag my knees lol. But again, “No, this is not my husband’s bike, this bike is not too much for me, and no, I cannot give you a ride.
SOMETHING TO PROVE?
As females sometimes we think we have to prove ourselves to the fellas or just to the larger mass of doubters. But when it comes down to it we have nothing to prove to anyone and when we say anyone….we mean anyone. We could be at the traffic light (minding our own business) and some guy rides up next to you revving the engine trying to see if you’re game; or it could be at a track day and you get that look….you know exactly what that look means.
We all know that if you are even remotely good at anything (that has been deemed male territory) you will be challenged and sometimes it can be a bit much! That fact that you are in this sport/lifestyle says a lot about the kind of woman you are so don’t let a few people fluster you!
