Chic Riot Spotlights: Barbara
In one or two sentences tell us about yourself…
I’m Barbara and I live in Cremona (Italy). I graduated [with a degree] in Biology Sciences and besides science and motorcycles, my other passions are photography, travel and music. Whenever, I get the chance…I leave to explore foreign countries and I, especially have a thing for United States.
Who or what got you into riding?
I grew up around motorcycles thanks to my big brother who used to take me with him to motorcycle festivals and meets as a kid. Then, less than a year ago at 29, I felt the urge to experience new kinds of adventures and decided to buy my first bike, it was a great decision!!
What do you ride? And what does your bike say about you?
I ride a Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 which I named Dakota (yes, I did gave her a name). My bike is adventurous and colorful, just like me. A perfect bike to start riding but at the same time being able to have fun with it on and off road.
How does it feel to be a female rider in this male dominated sport/lifestyle?
I just entered this sport/lifestyle but I can say I didn’t feel pressures or demotivate from the male side. I was also lucky to straight away find several biker girls in my area, so I started riding in groups since the beginning. It’s a nice feeling being a female in what is a male dominated sport and I feel like more women are getting into riding. It is rewarding showing that there are no differences once we decide to do something, we just do it!
What is the most memorable experience or most fun you've had since riding?
I’ve being riding for less then a year so I have so many adventures to look forward to. If I had to choose one fun experience I would choose the ride I did with other two girls in the central Appennines in Liguria. It was a great day of riding and my first mountain pass, beautiful landscapes, and a rewarding feeling for my first ever mountain ride.
